Type 2 Diabetes
Symptoms
For those who have type 2 diabetes, serious health problems
and complications can occur. Because of the health
complications, it is very important that people are able to
spot any type 2 diabetes symptoms that may crop up. Even those
in pre-diabetes can have increased risk for some health
problems. If you begin having any symptoms of type 2 diabetes,
then you need to speak to your doctor to see if this is your
problem.
Although there is no cure for type 2 diabetes, it can be
treated if you catch it early. This is why it is so important
to be informed about type 2 diabetes symptoms so you can catch
the problem early. Once you get on treatment, you can usually
control the disease and the faster it is treated, the less
likely you are to deal with serious complications. Here is a
look at some of the most common type 2 diabetes symptoms that
occur.
One of the most prominent symptoms that often occurs in those
with type 2 diabetes is increased thirst. People become very
thirsty and may feel thirsty all the time. This occurs because
the body is taking the water in the cells to try to dilute all
the sugar in the blood, which can cause you to feel dehydrated.
Then you feel thirsty all the time, trying to compensate for
the loss of water. Many people also experience frequent
urination along with the thirst. This happens for two reasons.
First of all, since you are drinking so much, you end up
urinating more often. This also occurs because the kidneys are
trying to flush out some of the sugar.
Feeling tired and fatigued is another common symptom that comes
along with type 2 diabetes. The reason that you may feel this
way is because your body is not able to use the sugar it takes
in for energy. Without the proper use of insulin in the body,
your cells are not able to take sugar and turn it into the
energy you need. This leaves you feeling tired all the time and
like you have no energy at all.
Often headaches occur in those with type 2 diabetes. If you
suddenly begin to have headaches along with some of these other
symptoms, you may be dealing with this disease. Blurred vision
also can occur. This is often an affect of too much sugar in
the bloodstream, which can affect the eyes because it takes
away the fluid in the eyes. Other symptoms that can occur
include dry mouth, increased hunger, weight loss or gain, and
in some cases loss of consciousness.
If you start experiencing any of these type 2 diabetes
symptoms, make sure that you contact your physician as soon as
possible. You need to be tested, diagnosed, and treated for
this problem to avoid more serious problems in the future.
