people find it to be a very important topic. Today one of the
more popular diets is the glycemic index diet, and many people
are using it to successfully lose weight. However, when on this
diet, you are usually limited to foods and drinks that are low
on the glycemic index. Well, for those who enjoy drinking beer
and alcohol, this can be a problem. Most people are not aware
at all where beer and alcohol fall on the glycemic index, so

diet.

index. Well, this is just another myth. It is only alcoholic
beverages that have been distilled that have no carbs in them.
Even when alcoholic drinks go through the fermentation process,
you'll still find that there is sugar in it at the end of the
day. So, you cannot think that there are no carbs in these
drinks and don't be fooled into thinking that they don't even
rank on the glycemic index.
Many people also seem to believe the myth that alcohol will
just go on through you and never affect your weight. This is
totally wrong. In fact, alcohol actually is processed in the
body before all the carbs, proteins, and fats. This can
actually slow down the body's fat burning processes and can end
up adding even more pounds to your body. Also, since there are
so many calories in these drinks, you can be sure that they are
going to end up affecting your weight at some point, especially
if you end up drinking a whole lot of beer.
So, in the end, while you will find that the alcohol and
beer glycemic index is on the low side, you'll also find that
there are quite a few calories in these drinks. If you're out
drinking, you may drink several beers before you know it, and
they can really add up. The more calories you eat and drink,
the more that you may not be able to burn, which means that
they may end up as fat. So, even though the glycemic index is
on the low side, all the calories in the alcoholic beverages
can end up making you gain weight. Usually you'll find that it
is better to just limit or avoid beer when you're on a diet.
You'll be more likely to lose weight and for that you'll be
proud of yourself. Sure, it's still okay to have a drink from
time to time, but you definitely don't want to make beer
drinking a regular habit.
